Adulaof was onboard a red Nissan Frontier with plate number DDT 210.
Dandan said the gunmen could have positioned themselves at the elevated portion along the highway boundary of barangays Dalingaoen and Batulawan.
"When they saw the vehicles approaching their position, they started firing their automatic rifles," he said.
The drivers of both the vehicles managed to speed off.
The victims were brought to the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) in Cotabato City for treatment.
Authorities are still clueless as to the identities of the suspects but hinted personal grudge or clan feud as the motive behind the ambush, although police have not established whether the victims are from one clan. (Malu Cadelina Manar)
