IT’S more than just a gathering of Davao's 11 tribes. Dula Kadayawan is a showcase of Lumad and Moro games that aim to foster awareness and educate the younger generation and the rest of us Dabawenyos on their traditional games and how these are played.

The games started with a parade of the tribes and was followed by a ritual, giving thanks to the Almighty.

Present during the occasion are members of the Kadayawan Executive Committee, tons of photographs and several foreign tourists who despite the rain stayed to finish the morning games of the Lumads.

For photographers, it's a battle of subject hunting and position as intense and competitive games were played between the Lumads.

The men of each tribe showcased their strength in the tug of war game while women compete in the water fetching game and siklot, a game similar to pick-up sticks.

Lumad Datus sharpshooting eyes were also tested in sisibow, blow gun, and pana, also known as archery.

Meanwhile, Lumad hunters tested their mettle in bubuntog, a spear throwing game.

There are tons of games played every month all over the world, but what makes Dula Kadayawan so special among other competition, Dula Kadawayan is a showcase of heritage, way of life, and the exemplary grassroots culture of the 11 tribes of Davao City.
