Beermen demolish Aces in Dumaguete City

SAN Miguel Beermen demolished Alaska Aces with 85-74, in a crucial closing elimination game of the Phoenix Fuel PBA on their out of town tour Saturday evening at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center in Dumaguete City.

The Beermen controlled the game in the first quarter and took the half with 13 points advantage with 46-33, but San Miguel refused to relax and continue played.

They controlled the momentum of the game until in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter with 9 points lead, with the final score 85-74.

The Beermen stayed in second spot with 13 wins against five losses in the double-round elimination phase that guaranteed them of at least playoff for the number 2 seeding in the post-elimination round.

Alaska settled for an outright slot in the quarter finals after finishing with an 11-7 card in the elimination.

The Aces, seeded fourth in the playoffs, will be up against, either Gin Kings, the Elasto Painters or the Tigers in the quarters.

The Negros Oriental Sports and Cultural Facilities Board of Management (NOSCFBM), the local organizer of the PBA games thanked to all Oriental Negrenses to watch the Alaska Aces and San Miguel duel last Saturday.

The scores: San Miguel Beer 85 - Washington 19, Freeman 15, Santos 12, Ildefonso 11, Seigle 10, Cabagnot 6, Hontiveros 5, Teo 5, Miranda 2, Pennisi 0, Villanueva 0, Racela 0.
