Thursday, April 19, 2012
DUMAGUETE City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, with Liga ng mga Barangay Captains (LGC) president Albert Aquino, led Wednesday morning the inauguration of the LGC office at the City Hall compound.
The inauguration of the new office was also attended by the 30 barangay captains of the city.
Sagarbarria said the new office will provide the barangay captains a good place to discuss matters related to their governance, and it will be a good avenue for the people to inquire if they have concerns in their barangay.
Aquino is thankful that the construction of the new LGC office was finally realized.
He said the ground floor will serve as their office where they will perform book keeping, receive inquiries, and do financial transactions for the 30 barangays.
The second floor, he added, will serve as their conference room and a portion of it will be used as a mini-library, which will be filled with governance-related books to be provided by the Department of Interior and Local Government.
He said the books will be available for all those who are interested to learn about good governance.
Evelyn Lado, Poblacio 2 barangay captain, for her part, said the new office certainly gives them a better place to conduct their conference meetings, adding it will be a good learning ground.
For Candau-ay village chief Gregorio Oira, it is very important for them to learn more about good governance and the mini-library will definitely be a conducive place for learning. (Kenneth B. Pael)
