Candidates for university prexy presented

THE screening committee for the next president of the state-run university has presented the four candidates in a final showdown held at Negros Oriental State University (Norsu) Friday morning.
The screening committee chaired by Silliman University president Dr. Ben Malayang told media that after the presentation, they will submit the evaluation report to the Board of Regents.
Dr. Malayang explained that the Board of Regents will vote for or against any of the four candidates.
The candidate who will get the favorable votes from the Board of Regent will be the next president of Norsu, Malayang said.

Malayang clarified, however, that the screening committee will not recommend anybody from the candidates for a favorable votes neither to influence the Board of Regents to support one of the candidates.
Malayang said it’s up to the Board of Regents to choose the best among the four candidates.
The candidates are Maria Elsa Ilona Bulado, Reynaldo Tan, Briccio Merced Jr. and Don Vicente Real.
Bulado is a doctor of Education and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Silliman University.
Tan, on the other hand, is a doctor of Management and a graduate of
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Merced is a doctor of Education and graduated of BS Education from Notradame University in Cotabato City in Mindanao.
Real, director of Norsu Bais Campus II, is also a doctor of Education.
During the presentation, all of them presented their philosophies, visions, missions and major programs for the state-run university. All them have promised to continue in pursuing of excellence.
In his closing message, outgoing president Dr. Henry Sojor reminded the candidates to fulfill their promise like what he did.
