Junkie gets life in jail

A drug addict was convicted to life imprisonment by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Dumaguete City.
RTC Branch 30 Judge Rafael Cresencio Tan Jr. found Dick Rempojo guilty in the crime of drug pushing more than two years ago.
Judge Tan also ordered Rempojo to pay a fine of P500,000.
The court also sentenced Rempojo to suffer an indeterminate penalty of 12 years and one day as minimum term to 14 years as maximum and to pay a fine of P400,000 for illegal possession of prohibited drugs.
Court records show that on February 6, 2010 in Looc village of Dumaguete City, Rempojo was nabbed in a buy bust operation conducted by the joint forces of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Confiscated from Rempojo’s possession were the five pieces of P100 peso bill as marked money in exchange to a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride locally known as shabu weighing .03 gram.
Another three sachets of dangerous drugs were confiscated from Rempojo’s possession weighing .09 gram.
In a chemistry report submitted by the PNP Crime Laboratory, Rempojo has been found positive as drug user.
