Kid’s heroism lauded

A 15-YEAR-OLD boy received a certificate of recognition from Negros Oriental Provincial Government following his heroic deeds when the flash floods hit Dumaguete City Sunday afternoon.
In a simple ceremony held at the Governor’s Office Monday morning, Governor Roel Degamo recognized the heroism of March Anthony Talarion of Purok Santan, Taclobo in Dumaguete City.
Talarion braved Banica River during the flash floods to save a 4-year-old boy Jimbert Sombilon from Purok Dapdap in Bagacay village.

Talarion was injured when his head and body hit a rock. But he said despite his cuts he still managed to save Jimbert.
Talarion, a Grade 6 student at Batinguel Elementary School, received financial and medical assistance for his injuries.
Governor Degamo promised to include Talarion in the list of scholars of the Provincial Government when the latter will reach college.
Jimbert’s mother, Josephine, although has yet to meet the son’s hero, extended her thanks to Talarion for saving her son. (Sunnex)
