Dengue kills girl, 7

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl of Piapi village in Dumaguete City, who is supposed to celebrate her birthday today, Friday, died of dengue recently.
Nepthanjel Arbas was admitted at the Silliman Medical Center on Monday.
Nenita Arbas, Nepthanjel’s grandmother, said the victim’s younger brother was also rushed to the hospital few minutes after his sister died due to dengue fever.
Arbas admitted that she failed to immediately bring her granddaughter to the hospital. The doctor transfused 10 bags of blood platelets to Nepthanjel and tried to revive her, she said.
Nepthanjel is the second fatality of dengue fever from Dumaguete City and the fourth in Negros Occidental based on the records from the Integrated Provincial Health Office in Negros Oriental.
Records also show that from January 1 to August 18, 2012, a total of
1,084 dengue cases were confined at the three hospitals in Dumaguete City, District Hospitals and even in the primary hospitals provincewide. (Sunnex)
