LAW enforcers arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized some P45,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Buñao, Dumaguete City early Thursday.
A police report identified the suspects as Harold Quinto Dequilla, 30, single of Barangay Poblacion 8 and Melchor Galanza, alias Bobong, 41, married, of Barangay Poblacion 9 all in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.
Operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Operations Task Group, the National Bureau of Investigation and Dumaguete police arrested the suspects during a buy-bust operation around 1:30 a.m. in the outskirts village of Buñao.
Seized from the suspects were two “bultos” (a street slang for a huge volume of illegal drugs) and five other plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and a marked P500 bill placed on top of paper strips used as bogus money for the transaction, the police report said.
A third suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, managed to evade arrest after he apparently sensed the anti-illegal drugs operation and sent representatives instead.
The police believe the third suspect is “big fish” in the illegal drugs trade.
Meanwhile, one of the two suspects is in the watch list of top ten drug personalities while the other is also believed to be allegedly involved in the killing of a policeman in Tanjay City years back.
The two suspects, detained at the Dumaguete police station, are allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade in Tanjay City and other parts of Negros Oriental.
Charges for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspects. (PNA)
