Government hotel admin resigns-A A +A
Wednesday, December 4, 2013
THE administrator of a government-owned hotel in Negros Oriental has resigned after he was accused of entering a contract with a private businesswoman without the authority of the governor and the Provincial Board (PB).
In their regular session Tuesday, Provincial Administrator Arnel Francisco said that Governor Roel Degamo has accepted the resignation letter, effective December 2, of Julius Zerna.
Earlier, the PB members questioned the authority of Zerna to allow the ongoing construction inside the hotel owned by the Provincial Government, which is located adjacent to the provincial convention center at the Perdices Coliseum, Capitol Area, Dumaguete City.
The construction is intended for the proposed bar and restaurant of Visionaire, whose owner claimed that she was allowed by the hotel administrator to construct and draft the contract of lease for P30,000 a month.
Vice Governor Mark Macias said Vissionaire already stopped the construction after a board member said that a proper bidding should be held for all businessmen who are interested to rent the area.
Macias also said it is up to the company if they will file appropriate charges against Zerna.
Sun.Star tried to contact the accused, who failed to attend the PB inquiry, but to no avail.
