Firecracker vendors reminded to follow rules-A A +A
Tuesday, December 31, 2013
TOP officials of the Philippine National Police in Negros Oriental conducted a surprise inspection of a firecracker zone in Dumaguete City Tuesday morning.
Police Superintendent Alet Virtucio led the inspection to personally check if all firecracker vendors in the city have followed the provision stated in their permits.
In an interview, Virtucio said vendors are strictly prohibited from selling oversized firecrackers, such as Goodbye Philippines, Yolanda and Napoles.
He clarified, however, that after the inspection, no single violations were observed. He said some vendors, though, were reminded not to sell firecrackers to children.
Virtucio also said that he noticed some vendors do not have water containers. He said the vendors were required to provide water containers as a safety measure against fire.
But Japar Macaraig, president of the Negros Oriental Firecrackers and Fireworks Vendors Association, said he always reminds members of the group to maintain and observe safety measures to avoid mishaps. (Sunnex)
