DUMAGUETE CITY -- Policemen raided the house of a businessman in Combado village in nearby Bacong town, Negros Oriental, early Wednesday morning, May 31, and confiscated illegal firearms and ammunition.

A police report said joint operatives of the Negros Oriental Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Bacong Police Station, served a search warrant around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday against Orlando Lanuevo Germones, 42, married and a resident of Barangay Combado in nearby Bacong town.

Recovered during the search were one .45 caliber pistol “Shooters” brand, five live ammunition and one piece magazine for caliber .45, a holster, one caliber 9-MM Taurus PT24/7 PRO with one magazine and five live ammunition.

Bacong police chief Senior Inspector Romel Luga said Germones, a businessman, did not resist arrest.

Negros Oriental Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio, Jr. issued Search Warrant No. 09-2017 on May 29, 2017, he said.

The CIDG now has custody of the suspect and the items recovered as they prepare the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The operation, with CIDG in the lead, was carried out under the government’s "Oplan Paglalansag" against illegal firearms. (PNA)
