A NATIVE of Daro village in Dumaguete City emerged as the champion in the recently concluded 2008 Year-End Grand Final Championship held at the Negros Club 64 playing hall.
Rudell Siglos, a gold medalist in the 2008 Visayas-wide Olympic, scored a perfect 6 points outclassing 13 other chess contenders. The second spot, meanwhile, went to Jeffrey Alcantara of Tanjay City with 5 points.

Third to sixth place went to Ryan Trajera, Edgar Conjuico, Junaico Segismar and Bobby Torres. Completing the seventh to 13th spots are Rowyn Ontal, Boy Somoza, Gemon Tolentino, John Lee Antonio, Al Dumalag, Cesar Aquino and Rosemarie Dumala.
Florendo Zamora, tournament director, said the Club president Adji Alamillo distributed cash prizes and gifts to the top finishers.
