The Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Cordillera (DENR-CAR) conducted the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) through an aerial inspection of the areas damaged by the massive fire incidents and the still ongoing fire incidents in the province of Benguet on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. The DENR-CAR reported that more than 1000 hectares of forest lands have already been damaged by the forest fire incidents in the different parts of Benguet since January 2020 and most of the incidents are caused by “kaingin” system of farming which is being used to expand their farmlands in the province.
