THE Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) has acquired two brand new firetrucks from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) central office to beef up firefighting campaign
efforts in the region.
In simple rites in Cotabato City Friday, Armm Executive Secretary Naguib Sinarimbo received the firetrucks in behalf of acting Armm Gov. Ansaruddin Alonto-Adiong from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Armm Regional Director Alejandro M. Cagampang.
According to Sinarimbo, the firetrucks were acquired through the efforts of Adiong, who requested for additional fire trucks to serve the almost 4.6 million constituents in the region.
Sinarimbo said the firetrucks are intended for Lanao del Sur provincial government and Office of the Regional Governor (ORG).
The firetruck assigned to ORG is an in-house firetruck that will serve to secure the properties inside the ORG compound but the Executive Secretary stressed "it is open for use by constituents of the city and its neighboring towns" of Maguindanao.
As of now, the region has 30 firetrucks broken down as Maguindanao, 13; Lanao del Sur, 6; Sulu, 6; Tawi-Tawi, 1, assigned in Bongao; and Basilan, 2, assigned in Lamitan City and Maluso town.
The ORG fire truck will be manned by trained firefighters from the BFP-Armm and will be stationed at the DILG-Armm Regional office, ORG Compound. (JCZ)
