Sumog-oy: Communication in cyber era

SubscribeAS I previously said, my article on communication that I serialized in this space was written as a discussion paper for a friend who is an official of the city government and not intended as a piece for a newspaper column. It was published here merely as a filler during the period when I have no luxury of time to write articles tackling current local issues.
Lately, however, I discovered that my article on communication is actually accumulating followings among professionals and students alike. Some of the students who approached me said that the article inspires them in the pursuit of their dreams to become writers. My professional friends told me that they enjoy reading the article for it revives into memory important lessons that have been engulfed to ignominy by their paramount concerns for survival during these trying times.

My kumpare, Manny Betaizar, of Dole and my former classmate in the MSU College of Law, came to shower me with lavish praises in a manner that seems to restore to life my usual narcissist tendencies. Manny Betaizar is an intellectually arrogant person and feels no need for the ideas of others. He is one that finds solace in the gigantic intellectual warehouse where he had stored his unlimited supply of information and ideas.
That he appreciates my article on communication is a monumental evidence that the same is indeed good (with due respect to my editors who may have contrary opinion and who may be at their breaking point now) and, therefore, should be made to hit the ground for few more weeks.
Let us continue.
Technically crafted communications are lifeless
Technical writers have common built-in mistakes and that is their strong psyche for superiority. This sort of arrogance causes them to strongly cling on a belief that their writing style is applicable under all situations and circumstances. This is a grand misconception.
In many areas of work, messages are not limited to mere presentation of facts and to proving the beneficiality and necessity of the object or objects of communication.
In most cases, messages in technically crafted communication are totally lifeless and have little meaning to our endless celebration of basic principles of life. Thus, this type of communication does not result to one's internalization of idea, concept, and philosophy. It does not also result to conscientization.
Communication should capture the realms of thought and emotion
Effective communication necessitates the capture of the individual's realms of thought and emotion. It is one that appeals to one's sense of humanity. Unfortunately, this is situated beyond the reach of a technically written document.
Communication channels during the cyber era
Channels of communication were radically transformed, following the advent of globalization. As defined, globalization is a process of transforming the world into a global village with modern transportation, information, and communication technologies as facilitating instruments.
Today, globalization has propelled us into another historical strand within our prevailing modern era - the cyber age.
Nowadays, people, occupying cramped offices in Makati, are seldom talking with each other. Office bosses convey their instructions to their subordinates through e-mails and for which they are responded to by also using the same channel. Messages between and among peers are also conveyed through this same channel, despite the fact that they are practically brushing elbows within their respective offices.
Moreover, this modern communication channel is even intervening in almost all facets of our lives, including those that already border on the very personal. This same channel is even used in sexual intercourse, which we consider as a form of perfect communication between two souls (perfect because communicators understand each other, even without saying any word or act in perfect rhythm and harmony with each other, even without the aid of prior consensus).
This practice is termed as cybersex, now popularly regarded by various sections of society as an effective form of safe sex. As we all know, cybersex is already gaining popular support not only between spouses separated by national boundaries but also between people inhabiting many enclaves within the country and their counterparts abroad.
