1T graduating students invited in IT Summit

SOME 1,000 graduating students in Iloilo City’s public high schools are invited to join the Information Technology (IT) Summit on Wednesday.
It is a one-day activity, which will include the popular DOTA Challenge and IT Quiz Bowl, aims to encourage students to take up IT courses in college.

Seth Da Nono, Dean of the UI College of IT and Engineering, said activities will include computer gaming, exhibits, and merchandising.
There will also be a special IT scholarship examination, music video-making contest, and a special presentation from Netopia, Acer, IBM, and Bayantel, said Nono.
Prizes for DOTA Challenge and Quiz Bowl include separate cash prizes of P1,000 for third placer, P2,000 for second, and P5,000 for first place winner.
A 100-percent tuition fee scholarship for one year for those taking up IT with BS specialization on Programming and Web Development Animation will also be given.
The IT Summit will be held simultaneously in all four Iloilo-Phinma Education Network (PEN) schools in the country; University of Iloilo (UI); Araullo University in Cabanatuan City; University of Pangasinan in the province of Pangasinan; and Cagayan de Oro College in Cagayan de Oro City.
