3 cities to host new food book launching

THREE major cities in the Philippines will host the book launching of “Estilo Ilonggo: Philippine Southern Lifestyle,” the last food book of renowned late author Reynaldo Gamboa Alejandro.
The book, the first of the Estilo Series, was co-authored by Vicente Roman S. Santos with the help of countless Ilonggo writers and institutions in Western Visayas.

It features culinary offerings of the Ilonggos by revealing the Ilonggo soul in food, history, lifestyle, arts and culture.
The launching will be done in three different locations. First was at the Filipinas Heritage Library at Nielson Tower, Makati Avenue in Makati City last March 4.
On March 12, the Iloilo City book launching will be held at the Nelly Gardens Mansion at E. Lopez Street, Jaro, in coordination with the Iloilo City Cultural Heritage Conservation Council.
The book launching in Negros, meanwhile, will be held at Gloria Esteban Residence at Lacson Street, Lupit, Bacolod City on Saturday, March 13.
Over the last 10 years, multi-awarded dancer, choreographer, chef and book author Alejandro wrote several acclaimed Filipiniana works. With Santos, he co-authored Flowers of Baguio, Tahanan: A House Reborn, Wow! Ang Sarap: The Best of Philippine Regional Cuisines, Manila Bay: Crossroads of Asia, Fiesta! Fiesta!: Festival Foods of the Philippines, and the Artes Populares Series.
The Estilo Ilonggo book will specifically present a variety of culinary offerings of the Hiligaynon-speaking people from the bite-size morsels of their history, homes and churches, livelihood, arts, customs and traditions, attractions, rich culture and festivals.
The book also features the descendants’ favorite dishes of the imposing Marquez Lim House at General Blanco Street in Iloilo City, which is now owned by the fourth generation heir, former senator Nikki Coseteng.
It also features the Boat House mansion of the Eugenio Lopez family in Jaro, Iloilo City and the Simplicio A. Lizares House in Talisay, Negros Occidental.
