ILOILO City Council rejected the request of Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) for monthly allowance of its six civilian employees for lack of basis.

City Councilor Perla Zulueta, who chairs the council's committee on appropriation and ways and means, said City Budget Officer Ninda Atinado had said that no changes had been made on the allowance guidelines as provided in Section 31 of Republic Act 6975, the law that created the Philippine National Police.

Zulueta said only uniformed police personnel can avail of the incentive based on the guidelines.

The request was submitted by ICPO officer-in-charge Eugenio Espejo seeking for the inclusion of six civilian employees of ICPO in the monthly allowance given by the city to uniformed police officers on top of their monthly salaries.

Zulueta said that similar requests were made by previous city police directors but all were denied. (Lydia C. Pendon)
