Mayor: No deadline on RPT hike

THE Iloilo City Government does not intend to impose immediately the new schedule on zonal valuation of real properties, and definitely, there is no deadline for real property tax (RPT) increases, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said.

The RPT hike is proposed to be implemented by January 2015.

A communication from the Office of the President through Director General Marciano Paynor Jr. detailed the hosting of Iloilo City of the SME Ministerial Meeting with 700 delegates on September 21-25, 2015, and the Food Security Week, a high level policy dialogue on Food Security and the Blue Economy and related meetings with 900 delegates, on September 28 to October 6, 2015.

DA honors 11 reg’l Gawad Saka awardees

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) office in Western Visayas will honor 11 outstanding individuals and groups as awardees of the Regional Gawad Saka Award 2014 on July 30 in glittering ceremonies at the Iloilo Midtown Hotel.

DA Regional Director Larry Nacionales identified the awardees in different categories, and three will compete for the national awards in Metro Manila by October this year.

Iloilo City unfazed by power crisis

Mabilog said isolated brownouts are not a problem for two privately-owned power generating plants located at Barangay Ingore in La Paz district.

DAP-funded projects in Western Visayas mostly completed

ILOILO CITY – Projects funded by the Disbursement Acceleration Fund (DAP) of President Benigno Aquino III in Western Visayas region are mostly completed and used by the recipients, according to Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Director Edilberto Tayao.

Tayao said the DAP releases were also intended as financial subsidies to priority programs and projects of the local government units to augment existing programs for scholarship, hospitalization and other health services.

51 illegal fishers nabbed

ILOILO – The Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force apprehended 51 fishermen using “hulbot-hulbot” (Danish seine) in two separate operations held in Ajuy and Carles this week.

Of the arrested fishermen, 13 were caught on Wednesday evening in Ajuy and the rest were caught Thursday in Decaña and Naburot Islands in Carles.

TOR assures no privatization of city market

THE newly drafted Term of Reference (TOR) governing the redevelopment and revitalization of Iloilo City’s Central Market through a joint venture agreement assures no privatization provision for the ground floor area of the place.

Marathon hearings held on Writ of Kalikasan over JRMP

PNP all set for Sona, INC centennial celebration

Kin of slain farmer cry for justice

THE family of the farmer killed by members of a military unit in the village of Mayang, Iloilo last Thursday consulted the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to call for justice.

City to go after dubious transactions at market

Traffic scheme for public transport vehicles to start

Illegal quarry in Jalaur River no proof

11,228 vials of anti-rabies distributed

THE Iloilo Provincial Government has started the distribution of 11,228 vials of anti-rabies vaccines to 42 municipalities and one component city.

Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. said the vaccines can immunize up to 112,280 dogs or 38.73 percent of the 289,856 registered dogs (as of December 2013) in the province.

Illegal recruiter uses Apec ID to lure victims

AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) apprehended a notorious illegal recruiter con artist for recruiting Apec volunteers, tour guides and delegation officers without authority from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Iloilo organizing committee.

Junel Ann Divinagracia, executive director of Apec IOC 2015, identified the illegal recruiter as Rems Roberto, also known as Remy Degoma with an address at Zone 2 Tanza St., Iloilo City and who uses only a cellphone number in her recruitment transactions.

TOR assures space to all central market vendors

Guv seeks hazard pay for PDEA agents
