ACTIONS will be drafted for the preservation and protection of the Iloilo River in a summit on March 5, said City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
The summit seeks to define the role of each stakeholder, especially the City Government, and the parameters of which to operate along the more than 16-kilometer long Iloilo River.
Up for discussions are the four big structures along the river, as well as the fishpens and fishtraps that impede the water flow and cause river siltation.
Representatives of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Environmental Management Bureau, Department of Health, Department of Public Works and Highways, members of the Iloilo River Development Council and the City Government are expected to attend the summit.
Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon is also expected to participate in the discussions. (Lydia C. Pendon)
