Barangay to vie blood program award

BARANGAY Ma. Christina in Jaro is set to vie in the national blood service program awards this year, its chief said.
BARANGAY Ma. Cristina chief Cherri Lebrilla, who was recently awarded by the Department of Health (DOH) for her support of the National Voluntary Blood Service Program, said her barangay is an active participant in the DOH and the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) blood donation programs and was nominated in the 2010 national Sandugo Awards in Metro Manila.
Lebrillo was awarded a trophy by DOH regional director Ariel Valencia last July 19 at Punta Villa Resort.
Other local government awardees in Iloilo are Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Mayor Enrique Rojas of Leganes, Mayor Niel Tupas IV of Barotac Viejo, and Mayor Vicente Gargaritano Jr. of Tubungan.
The PNRC will also recognize volunteers in Iloilo City with an awards program to be held at Ocean City Restaurant on July 29. (Lydia C. Pendon)
