First Eucharistic Miracles exhibits open in Iloilo

AFTER an exhibition tour in Europe and the United States, the world’s first Eucharistic Miracles will also be held here at the newly constructed Pacita Laguda Sia Community Center.

Parishioner Lorena Martirez said the Philippines is very lucky to host the first public exhibits in Asia, chosen by the Vatican to run for a month, starting November 8 until first week of December 2011.

It is composed of assortment of 140 photographs in 130 panels with documented Eucharistic Miracles that took place from 750 A.D. until year 2000. It was collated and compiled by 15-year-old Carlo Acutis of Milan, Italy, through the years in several countries.

This compilation was first used in 2005, declared as Year of the Holy Eucharist by Pope John Paul II during the First Eucharistic Congress in the Vatican. It is now known as the Vatican International Exhibition of the Eucharistic Miracles of the World.

All pieces and historical descriptions have been duly recognized and catalogued by the Vatican for the ongoing Vatican International Exhibition that focused on the miraculous consecrated hosts in churches and shrines in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Poland and India.

Martirez said that of the 140 approved miracles by the Vatican, only 64 relics are existing today, mostly composed of Eucharistic hosts and wine that turned into fresh flesh and blood through the ages.

The Vatican has conducted several comprehensive verifications of these miracles with a recognized DNA test showing the hosts came from the left ventricle of the heart of only one person.

Lorena and her husband William Martirez and parish priest Fr. Norberto Tacadao will play hosts to interested visitors and parishioners, while group tours are enjoined to apply for reservation through the parish at a minimal P20 entrance fee. (Lydia C. Pendon)
