P1.5M cash prizes up for Dinagyang 2012

A TOTAL of P1,501,100 cash prizes await winners in the major and minor event competitions in the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2012 slated fourth week of January 2012.

Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. chairman Ramon Cua Locsin said the cash prizes are on top of other incentives and subsidies given to the competing Dinagyang Ati-atihan and Kasadyahan groups.

The competing groups will perform in four staging areas spanning some 4.2 kilometers from the San Jose Church at Plaza Libertad. The stages are the Freedom Grandstand, Capitol area, corner Huervana in La Paz district and the Iloilo sport complex.

Locsin said the cash prizes are incentives to the competing groups to render world-class performances, as the city is expecting more than 200 dignitaries from Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, South Korea, China, Guam and Hongkong.

The grand Ati-atihan champion will receive P150,000 cash, while the first runner-up will receive P80,000. The second will get P60,000, the third will get P40,000 and the fourth runner-up will receive P30,000.

Cash prize of P10,000 will be awarded to the group in best performance, choreography, music and costume while the best in street dancing will receive P20,000.

Special awards of P10,000 each will be awarded to the best choreographer and best in discipline; while best in costume, costume designer, headdress and musical number will each receive P5,000.

Major awards in the Kasadyahan contest are: for the champion (P25,000); first runner-up (P75,000); second runner-up (P50,000); third runner-up (P40,000), and fourth runner-up (P30,000).

Minor awards include P20,000 best in street dancing, and P10,000 each for best in performance, choreography, music, costume and choreographer.

Locsin said for the Tambor, Trumpa, Martsa Musika competition will have two categories. Both elementary and secondary levels level will have P30,000 for champion, P20,000 for first runner-up, P10,000 for second runner-up and nine consolation prizes at P5,000 each.

Other competitions include Luces in the sky, Dressing up Dagoy, Dinagyang Ati Warrior, Dinagyang Newspaper Fashion Event, Newspaper Fashion Week Model and Miss Iloilo Teen Dinagyang 2012.

Tickets

Meanwhile, the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. had announced that the release and selling of tickets will be on the first week of January 2012 on a first come, first serve basis.

The tickets will be sold at P1,200 for two days performances at the right wing of the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, P1,000 at the stage between Injap building and Huervana street in La Paz district and P300 at the Iloilo sports complex.

Some 4,000 tickets will be sold at the sports complex while the centerstage of the Freedom Grandstand will be reserve for invited dignitaries and guests of the Iloilo City Government.
