Wednesday, January 11, 2012
ORGANIZERS of the search for Mutya ng Pilipinas 2012 competition is planning to hold the prestigious beauty and brain search in Iloilo City on July 2012.
City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, however, said no single centavo will be taken from the city coffers and the whole expenses will be given by corporate sponsors.
Organizers led by Robert de Venecia with city tourism officer Ben Jimena and Department of Tourism Regional Director Helen Catalbas met with Mabilog Wednesday to thresh out the possibility of the city hosting the national beauty pageant.
Mabilog said by then, the city has completed several major infrastructure projects such as the Esplanade along the Iloilo River, and the public plazas of Molo, Mandurriao, Arevalo and Plaza Libertad.
These areas are possible places for visits by the national beauties and candidates augmented by several updated hotels and restaurants here, Mabilog said.
The city will be hosting for the first time a national beauty competition. Organizers said they find Iloilo City as an ideal place with its natural and aesthetic beauty, tasty but cheap food, friendly people and cooperative City Government officials. (Lydia C. Pendon)
