Lot owner assures relocation site for fire victims

THE owner of fire-razed 1.8 hectares in a village in Iloilo City has assured a relocation site for the displaced families.
Lot owner Bretaña-Hervas family, through the Brevas Corp., is preparing the needed documents to buy 1.3 hectares in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, adjacent to the city-owned Sooc relocation site, to be developed as the relocation site for affected families.

The fire in Barangay Tanza Esperanza last January 22 was the biggest to hit the city. The fire gutted down 196 houses, leaving 223 families and 1,115 persons affected.
The fire also burned down 35 houses in nearby Barangay Tanza Timawa Zone 2 and 72 houses in Barangay Malipayon.
In a meeting with City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog on Friday, the mayor said he is happy with the noble gesture of the family and advised Barangay Tanza Esperanza chief Noel Odicta to pacify the affected residents and wait for the completion of listing conducted by the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office.
