Experts: Capitol building has no structural defect
Monday, February 13, 2012
The Iloilo Provincial Capitol building is safe and sound despite several noticeable cracks on its walls.
Provincial Engineer Gracianito Lucero said the inspection conducted by Architect Leonard Viado of WV Coscoluella & Associates and Engr. Filomeno Sanchez of R.S. Caparos & Associates last Friday showed that the Capitol building did not incur a structural defect following the 6.9-magnitude earthquake last February 6 that jolted several areas in the Visayas.

Lucero said the cracks found on the walls from the ground floor up to the sixth floor were only superficial cracks that do not affect the stability of the building.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council did not receive reports of damage on bridges in the province as a result of the earthquake. (PR)
