THE river esplanade project costing some P70 million is expected to be completed by first week of June this year, said Ilonggo Senator Franklin Drilon who conducted an inspection in Iloilo City Friday.

The project is envisioned to boost the tourism industry in the city, which is also known for its celebration of the Dinagyang Festival.

The esplanade is the newest fun hub of the city for early morning daily exercises, bicycle runs, strolling, while enjoying the river breeze and variety shows.

Fund for the 1.2-kilometer long esplanade project along Treñas Boulevard was taken from the senator’s priority development assistance fund.

The project was designed by renowned architect Paolo Alcazaren, who was also responsible in developing the Singapore Quay and Esplanade of Singapore. (Lydia C. Pendon)
