For children between eight and 13 years old, circus classes on juggling tricks and basic acrobatics will be held on Saturdays (April 14, 21, 28 and May 5) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Jeannot said Chameleon Association in Passi City was founded in 1997 by French national Laurence Ligier to help young girls who have suffered sexual abuses. The association was assisted by Passi Sugar Foundation and the City Government of Passi.
The association is a humanitarian organization that provides protection and rehabilitation to girls who had experienced harsh circumstance. It also provides educational assistance to children of poor families of Passi, San Enrique and Bingawan through sponsorship program. These towns are considered the sugarcane municipalities, with three sugar mills.
With Chameleon, the girls were able to be children, realize their dreams and go to school with a dreamed dignified future, said Jeannot.
She said the circus is considered by Chameleon as intervention and rehabilitation for the girls in the past seven years, and four girls of the Chameleon shelter were sent to France to study the circus with the Clowns Without Borders and the National Circus School of France. The girls became trainers.
The Chameleon Association in Passi City is licensed and accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. (LCP)
