THE Iloilo City Government is set to open three new integrated high schools by 2013 after all the necessary documents are readied and approved by the Department of Education.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog recently met with City Schools Division Superintendent Nelly Valerio to discuss the details of the integrated schools system in city areas.

Proposed for integration are the Sambag Elementary School in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district; Mabini Elementary School in the city proper; and Bitoon Elementary School in Jaro coastal road.

Mabini Elementary School has a catchment area of students in barangays Rizal Pala-pala, Estanzuela, Edganzon, Flores, Sampaguita and Mabini.

Bitoon Elementary School has a catchment area of students from barangays Balabago, Balantang, and nearby La Paz barangays of Hinactacan, Ingore and Banuyao.

Mabilog said the plan would also consider other elementary schools into the integrated high school system and this covers the Javellana Elementary School, Rizal Elementary School and other elementary schools with pupils from several adjoining villages. (LCP)
