Rescue volunteer team deployed for St. John Day

ILOILO CITY – Members of search and rescue volunteer group based in this city will be deployed in several coastal areas to oversee the safety of beach goers on Sunday, as the nation celebrates Saint John the Baptist Day.
New supreme commander Edwin Lacorum of the Mountain Tigers organization has ordered the deployment of rescue members as their annual contribution to the celebration.
Board secretary Allan Vidal said that Mountain Tigers lifeguards will be assigned along the Villa Beach area up to the Fort San Pedro.
The organization is also set to observe the 8th year death anniversary of Romeo Lacorum, the founder and first supreme commander of Mountain Tigers on Saturday.
The founder was a figure in disaster search and rescue operations in the late 1990s and was awarded a Kalasag Award as most outstanding volunteer by the Department of National Defense for his role in community safety.
The operations of Mountain Tigers was passed on to his eldest son Edwin as the new supreme commander of more than 200 volunteers active in disaster search and rescue operations. (LCP)
