A TOTAL of 33 children aged one month to not more than five years old will be baptized at the Alta Tierra Parish Church on August 11, 2012 as a yearly commitment of Iloilo City Councilor Nielex Tupas.
Tupas will be celebrating his 33rd natal year in public service as a city legislator and his five-year “Pabunyag sa Syudad” and “Kasadyahan Pangkabataan” socio-civic programs.
The mass baptism for babies, toddlers, and kids from poor and indigent families of the city will be followed by a reception with fun games and gifts to Tupas’ god children.
Tupas said baptism is an important sacrament in Christianity or Catholicism and the project is for the proper guidance of the children that strengthens the Ilonggo families and deepens spiritual relationship.
Meanwhile, Tupas reported the passage of amendments to the special permits ordinance during the regular City Council Session last Wednesday.
As author of the local law, Tupas is positive that this will help make the city become more tourist and business friendly by professionalizing the tour routes, process of application for special permits with tourism exemptions from the Perimeter Boundary Ordinance (PBO), and a fair and just payment of fees.
The amendments also signify no addition to the traffic congestion concern but with identified pick up and drop off points, running tours, and carousel route.
