ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the City Government is set to implement P21-billion worth of infrastructure projects in the city and the province during the Aquino administration until 2016.
The projects will be funded by the National Government agencies, through the priority development assistance funds of Senator Franklin Drilon, and lone city district Representative Jerry Treñas; loan assistance from foreign governments; and from the coffers of the City Government of Iloilo, Mabilog said during President Benigno Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address on Monday.
The bulk of the funding for the projects covered the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project (JRMP) with P11.2 billion. It is slated to be completed by 2016.
More than P4 billion is also allocated for the circumferential and radial roads, road maintenance, housing projects for the homeless and several other development projects associated with the development and rehabilitation of the Iloilo River in Iloilo City.
Mabilog said Drilon, a native of Molo district in Iloilo City, is instrumental in getting the funding from the National Government agencies.
The senator assured to help the city and the province after seeing the city’s slow infrastructure development. (Lydia C. Pendon)
