VOLUNTEER workers from the first district of Iloilo province received their PhilHealth cards on Tuesday in Guimbal town.
Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr., Vice Governor Richard Garin, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Dr. Neneth Pador, and the municipal officials of Guimbal led the distribution at the town’s covered gym.
There are 2,160 volunteer workers, composed of village health workers, village service point officers, village nutrition scholars and daycare workers, in the seven towns of the first district, namely: Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Tubungan, Igbaras, Miagao and San Joaquin.
Pador said the cards issued to the volunteer workers ensured the PhilHealth coverage of the recipients until December 2013.
She said Defensor allotted P20 million in this year’s budget to ensure the PhilHealth coverage of all volunteer workers in the province.
Defensor stressed that he prioritized the PhilHealth insurance for volunteer workers in recognition of their untiring service to the communities where they are assigned.
There is a total of 9,763 volunteer workers all over the province.
Distribution for the second district volunteers is scheduled on September 19, 2012 in Pavia town.
Third district volunteers will receive their cards in Janiuay on September 25 while the distribution in the fourth district has yet to be fixed.
Volunteer workers in the fifth district, on the other hand, will receive their PhilHealth cards in Sara on October 5, 2012. (PR)
