Tesda-trained workers have high employment rate

WORKERS who underwent trainings with the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (Tesda) have a high employment rating of 72 percent in local and international job postings.
Lawyer Teodoro Pascua, Tesda deputy director general for field operations, bared this to the local media during Friday’s opening of the three-day celebration of the Tesda Supervised Schools Association of Iloilo Inc. (TSSAII) in Iloilo City.
Pascua said the most coveted technical workers for abroad job placements are mostly those trained in the Tesda-supervised schools or training centers that provide excellent vocational and technical education.
The Tesda official said there are 4,400 vocational and technical schools operating in the Philippines and there are 325 Tesda training schools and centers.
The government has allotted P700 million as budget for Tesda scholars undergoing training.
At present, there are existing 27 TSSAII member schools and training centers recognized and approved by Tesda to operate in the city and province of Iloilo from an original 73 schools. Some schools and centers were closed and others did not renew their licenses anymore.
Some Iloilo universities and colleges are maintaining ladderized programs for technical courses while most are training centers and schools for special courses.
The 27 TSSAII members in Iloilo are: Abba Institute of Technology Inc., ABE International Business College, ACLC College of Iloilo, Asian College of Aeronautics, Cabalum Western College, CNC Language Center, Dominican College of Iloilo, Iloilo Doctors College, Iloilo State College of Fisheries, Lifeline International Health Institute, Neo International Health Institute, Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College Sara Campus, Prime Skills Asia Corp., Professional Electronics Institute Inc., RRLS-ICT Academy, Solomon Academy, St. Augustine School of Nursing, St. Nicholas Training Institute, St. Therese-MTC Colleges La Fiesta Site, St. Therese-MTC Colleges Magdalo Site, St. Therese-MTC Colleges Tigbauan Site, St. Vincent College of Science and Technology, STI Iloilo, Technical Institute of Iloilo City Bo Obrero, Techno Development Institute, Top Quality Training Center Inc. and Virginia Institute of Technology.
