Abattoir ready by November

MAYOR Jed Patrick Mabilog said the inauguration and completion of rehabilitation works in Iloilo City slaughterhouse will be finished on November this year.
Mabilog said the P40 million rehabilitation by contractor Tacolod Enterprises covers the expansion of the abattoir into a full Double A, based on the standard of the National Meat Inspection Service of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
Mabilog said the Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office will immediately start the relocation process of 79 families of informal settlers living along the river beside the old slaughterhouse in North and South San Jose, Molo district, right after the inauguration.
The informal settlers are mostly workers of the slaughterhouse and will be relocated in the city-owned relocation sites in Barangay Sooc in Arevalo district or at the Lanit relocation site in Jaro district. (Lydia C. Pendon)
