Syjuco confirms reelection bid-A A +A
Tuesday, September 25, 2012
REPRESENTATIVE Augusto Boboy Syjuco (2nd district, Iloilo) is all set for his reelection bid.
He said it’s “all-system’s go” come Monday, October 1, the first day of filing of the Certificate of Candidacy.
Syjuco also came out to address attacks hurled against him. He reportedly went into hiding, fearing the arrest warrant out on him.
“I understand that somebody has been looking for me, gina-buyayaw ako sa radyo – ‘Diin ka Boboy? Nga-a nahadlok ka mag-gua? Ano ka nalagyo? (attacks me in the radio – ‘Where are you Boboy? Why are you afraid of coming out? What happened, did you ran away?),” Syjuco said in Friday’s interview over Bombo Radyo Iloilo.
“Te maisog bala ang nanghangkat sa akon nga magguwa kag magbato sa tiempo nga bal-an sang tanan impossible gid ako makaguwa diri sang ara ako sa abroad. Ari na ako…Ano ang gusto mo subong? (Was it bravery for that someone who challenged me to go out and fight at a time everybody knew it was impossible because I was abroad? Here I am now. What do you want?),” he added.
Syjuco chided his attackers quoting famous movie lines, Clint Eastwood’s “Go ahead punk, make my day!” Cherie Gil’s “You are nothing but a second rate trying hard copycat” and ended up with Arnold Schwarchzegger’s “Asta la vista Baby…”
The lawmaker also warned constituents against whom he dubbed “Goebles in our midst.” Joseph Goeble was the infamous German master propagandist and right-hand man of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Quoting the words of Goeble on lies dangerously appearing to be the truth when told a thousand times, Syjuco said, “That is what happened to me, your Tito Boboy, at the time I was not here. The public particularly in the Second District was subject to the Goebles in our midst. Good thing we prevailed. Good thing we are now more aware of the truth.”
Syjuco said he took 57 days break with his wife, former Representative Judy, in Singapore.
He also said there is no arrest warrant out for him. The administrative cases were all trumped-up charges that his party duly replied to before the Office of the Ombudsman, he added.
