5 additional teen centers to rise in Iloilo-A A +A

ILOILO Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has approved the establishment of five additional school-based multi-purpose teen centers in the different districts of the province.
The project initiated by the Provincial Population Office headed by Ramon Yee aims to help in the youth development through the provision of educational and recreational facilities.
Last year, five multi-purpose teen centers were established in the following areas: Oton National High School (ONHS) for the first district, Pavia National High School for the second district, Lambunao National High School for the third district, Rufino J. Palabrica Sr. Memorial National High School in Dingle for the fourth district; and Nicomedes Tubar Sr. Memorial National High School in San Dionisio for the fifth district.
Governor Defensor allotted P200,000 for each of the teen centers.
The additional five multi-purpose teen centers will be established in Igbaras for the first district, San Miguel for the second district, Cabatuan for the third district, Dumangas for the fourth district, and Sara for the fifth district.
Yee said a specific room or space in the school located in the different districts have been identified to be developed as multi-purpose teen centers.
The multi-purpose teen centers serve as a venue and facility where the adolescents, students and out-of-school youths can develop their potentials as individuals.
They are equipped with reading materials and other educational and recreation facilities.
The center will be manned by the respective guidance counselors of the schools with the assistance of trained student peer helpers. (PR)
