Monday, October 8, 2012
FARMERS from three barangays in San Miguel, Iloilo can now avail of irrigation water with the inauguration on Monday of a small-scale irrigation dam in Barangay Sto. Niño.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. allotted P1.8 million for the project while the local government of San Miguel allotted a counterpart of P400,000.
The project will irrigate barangays Consolacion, Sto. Niño, and Sta. Theresa with water coming from Morubuan River.
Defensor implemented the project in 2010 in three stages, which include the construction of check dam at Morubuan, construction of a pump house and construction of concrete canal leading to the farmlands. (PR)
