ILOILO CITY – The Metro Iloilo Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC) is looking forward to strengthen its tourism programs and enhance local economic initiatives.
MIGEDC is a council of local government units led by Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
Jose Roni Peñalosa, city planning officer and concurrent MIGEDC executive director, said the ongoing tourism program will focus on benchmarking of identified tourism sites in the member local government units (LGUs).
It aims to formulate tourism circuits and packages to accommodate varied domestic and foreign tourists.
Included in the council are the Provincial Government of Guimaras and the five municipalities of Jordan, Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo and Sibunag across the Iloilo Strait.
Other members are the surrounding municipalities of Oton, San Miguel, Pavia, Sta Barbara and Leganes.
Tourism officers of these LGUs are expected to submit their tourism packages and be included in the MIGEDC program.
