CONSTRUCTION of the P40-million two-storey city public hospital is completed and the building will be turned over to the Iloilo City Government on Saturday, October 13.
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said preparation for the eventual turnover and staffing pattern of the hospital are finalized in collaboration with the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC).
Mabilog said he is working closely with WVMC chief, Dr. Jose Mari Fermin, for the operation of the city hospital located at the back portion of WVMC compound.
Mabilog said the La Paz Maternity Clinic is currently undergoing renovation and rehabilitation and its personnel will be fielded temporarily to man the city hospital.
The Department of Health has appropriated P20 million for the upgrading and rehabilitation of the maternity clinic.
The 42-bed city hospital will have separate wards for female and male patients and will cater mostly to indigent patients and Philhealth card holders. (Lydia C. Pendon)
