THE Iloilo City assessor’s office reminded all registered owners of real properties to file their sworn declaration of the current true fair market value of their real properties from January 2, 2013 to June 20, 2013.
City assessor Nelson Parreño said the city is encouraging all real property owners to avail of the registration without cost until June 30, 2013 to facilitate the payment of real property taxes.
City Tax Ordinance 2007-016 as amended by Tax Ordinance 2008-021 provides penalties for violators who failed to submit their tax declaration of real properties.
After the deadline, violators who failed to file their declaration will be fined with not less than P2,000 and not more than P5,000 or imprisonment of not less than one month and not more than six months at the discretion of the court.
The city assessor is inviting real property owners to come to his office to avoid congestion during the days of filing.
Forms of the sworn declaration are available at the city assessor’s office without pay, including the city assessor or his deputy to subscribe the sworn declaration without cost. (Lydia C. Pendon)
