AROUND 1,500 individuals from 18 upland barangays of Tubungan, Iloilo benefited from the Project Buligay medical mission of the Iloilo Provincial Government on Thursday, January 10, 2013.
The medical mission was held at Lanag Norte Elementary School in Barangay Lanag Norte, an upland barangay about four kilometers away from the town proper.
Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias motored to Barangay Lanag Norte Thursday morning to personally witness the conduct of the medical mission.

Doctors and personnel from the 11 district hospitals and the Iloilo Provincial Hospital rendered services, such as medical consultation and tooth extraction to the patients who were also given free medicines.
Members of the Philippine Army also joined Project Buligay by offering free massage and haircut to clients.
Mayor Vicente Gargaritano, who was present at the medical mission, said they have identified Lanag Norte Elementary School as venue of the medical mission because it is accessible to other upland barangays in their town.
Project Buligay is a medical-dental mission initiated by Defensor as part of his social services programs mainly intended for the poor population of the province. (PR)
