Iloilo corporate seal to undergo design modification
-A A +AThursday, January 17, 2013
THE National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has sent to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog the proposed seal, which the commission modified based on the submitted design in conformity with basic heraldic rules embodied in “The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.”
NHCP executive director Ludovico Badoy is asking Mabilog’s comments and/or approval of the modified design and symbolism at the earliest possible time, so that the commission can forward the corporate seal to the Office of the President for final approval.
Noticeably absent in the modified seal are the drawings of the original seal such sea lion and the wordings “La Muy Leal Noble Ciudad de Iloilo,” among others.
Incorporated in the modified seal, among others, are the Cross that represents Christianity, a boat that represents the tourism industry of the city, and 1890 as the year the City Government of Iloilo was established under the Becerra Law of 1889 on February 7, 1890.
Recommending approval is NHCP chair Maria Serena Diokno and approved by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. by authority of the Office of the President. (Lydia C. Pendon)
