THE campaign against smoking and littering in Iloilo City will be implemented even during the weekend highlights of world-class Dinagyang Festival.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said agents and implementers of the anti-smoking and anti-littering campaign will have to continue their operation by giving citation ticket to violators of both city ordinances.

However, Mabilog clarified that there will be no apprehension and no exacting of penalties and fines to violators who will be caught smoking and littering by agents of the Iloilo City Anti-smoking Task Force (Icast).

The city mayor added that violators will not be charged in court.

Mabilog said the exemption for the payment of fines and penalties will only be implemented on January 26 and 27, 2013, the date of Dinagyang Festival. (Lydia C. Pendon)
