Relocation sites eyed for Tabucan fire victims

THE Iloilo City Government has assured relocation sites at Barangay Lanit, Jaro district for the fire victims at Sitio Sinikway, Barangay Tabucan, Mandurriao district.
Around 100 housing units are set for the 110 families affected by the fire last Saturday, February 23, in Barangay Tabucan. The affected families will be relocated in the Lanit relocation site by end of March 2013.
City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said he still waiting for the official report from the Iloilo City fire department and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) office to determine the exact number of destroyed houses.
The city mayor is looking for funds to purchase and give personal things such as cooking wares, clothing and things to the fire victims who have nothing left of their personal needs.
Mabilog said he is also requesting assistance from the Philippines Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to augment the financial assistance to the fire victims.
The City Government is giving P5,000 each for a destroyed house and P2,500 each for a damaged house.
The city mayor said he is calling for clothing donations for the fire victims from various organizations and clubs.
