Angara: Filipinos face poverty, lack of opportunities

-A A +A

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

POVERTY and lack of opportunities are the main issues to be discussed by all the candidates for the May elections, said Aurora Congressman Sonny Angara over the weekend.

Twenty seven years after the People Power EDSA revolution, the country is still reeling with poverty issues and the candidates and politicians should discuss specific measures to eradicate these issues and how to generate economic opportunities, Angara said.

Angara said the biggest threats to democracy are these basic issues and the candidates must offer the best solutions and government platforms to the electorate.

The midterm election is not a contest in dirty politics, he said.

Angara said the people must not throw away the opportunities to discuss ways to eradicate the hardcore issues as the world is now watching the Philippines because of current economic improvements.
