BIR eyes P8.27 billion in 2013

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Davao Region based in Iloilo City is eyeing a target collection of P8.27 billion in 2013, depicting a 27.9 percent increase from its 2012 collection from its five revenue district offices in Panay Island.
During the 2013 tax campaign kick-off last March 8, Regional Director Romulo Aguila Jr. said the growing infrastructure projects in Panay and in Iloilo by the Aquino Administration shows the healthy collection of taxes augmented by the Ilonggos with the highest amount in bank deposits.
Partnering with the local government units (LGUs) and the private sector, Aguila said the positive outlook of the region is bright and the collection target is attainable.
Aguila said the BIR regional office is currently implementing 15 priority programs that include Oplan Kandado on erring tax payers, Rale, Benchmarking and Oplan Professionals, among others.
Cited were the top individual and corporation tax payers in Revenue District Office 74 based in Iloilo City and headed by revenue district officer Nelia Demalata.
The top individual taxpayers are Theodore Valderrama of Angelina Bakeshop, Romeo Go of 21 hotels and Marcelino Florete Jr. of the jewelry, pawnshop and hotel business.
Under the corporation category, the top taxpayers are IBC International Builders Corp., Vic Imperial Appliance Corp., and Iloilo I Electric Cooperative Inc.
In Revenue District Office 71 based in Kalibo, Aklan, the awardees are Federico Jarantilla, Wilfredo Est. Gelito and Lourdes Yap under the individual category. The corporation awardees are Hennan Hotel Management Inc., BR Manpower Services Inc. and Aklan Electric Cooperative Inc.
In Revenue District Office 72 based in Roxas City, Capiz, the top individual awardees are Leodegario Labao Jr., Cornelio Miralles and Edgar Sia Jr. The corporation awardees are Capiz Electric Cooperative Inc., Business People Inc. and Amado Lim Enterprises Inc.
In Revenue District 73 based in San Jose, Antique, the top individual awardees are Nestor Yute Kho, Wilfredo Uy and Quirico Pe. The corporation awardees are Antique Electric Cooperative Inc., AC Distributors Inc, and MAS Muradito Inc.
In Revenue District 75 based in Zarraga, Iloilo, the top individual awardees are Ernesto Lim, Delson Sonza and Rex Altamira. The corporation awardees are Iloilo II Electric Cooperative Inc., Progressive Bank Inc and Rural Bank of Dumangas. (Lydia C. Pendon)
