-A A +AMonday, March 11, 2013
MAYOR Jed Patrick Mabilog Iloilo City has announced the construction of a new building and office of the City Agriculture Office (CAO) after the May 2013 midterm elections at its old site in Molo district.
Mabilog said he is eyeing a two-storey building to house all services of the CAO with a budget of P3 million this year for the construction of the groundfloor building. In 2014, another budget will be allotted for the completion of the building.
The city mayor said that there are still some areas, especially at the city boundary on Jaro and Mandurriao districts, which are devoted to rice and vegetable production. Fishing along the coastlines of Arevalo up to La Paz and river fishing along the Iloilo River are still major livelihood opportunities of the people.
Mabilog said these agricultural activities need the supervision and assistance of the city agriculture office under city agriculturist Geraldine Hautea.
