THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is all set to complete the P170 million Iloilo River Wharf for roll-on, roll-off vessels and ships from Iloilo City going to Bacolod City by January 2014.
Port Manager Manuel Boholano assured Sen. Franklin M. Drilon, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Lone District Rep. Jerry P. Treñas on the early completion of three major components of the project and proposed development of the area at Barangay Progreso-Libertad in Lapuz, Iloilo City.
Boholano said the construction of the berthing facilities at the Iloilo River Wharf by contractor International Builders Corp. is slated for completion by the end of this year at an approved budget contract of P126 million. PPA is set to fast-track the project within one year duration from the original 450 calendar days.
The second component is the construction of a passenger terminal with a floor area of 1,000 square meters with an approved budget of P19.03 million by contractor RRL Builders Corp.
The third component is the site development, fence, gates and guard house by contractor F. Gurrea Construction at a contract cost of P24.56 million.
Boholano assured the projects will be completed on time and Ilonggos will no longer suffer the inconvenience of sea travel to Bacolod and other areas in the Visayas.
